Karen, when I first started writing I always used first person POV. I think it’s because I’ve always seen myself in these stories and those were my adventures I was telling. Later, when I started trying to write something more publisheable, I switched to third person limited POV, which in a way is similar, but I think much more “accepted” than first person POV. Anyway, I don’t want to bore you with this…

Vesper - This is wonderful fiction! Like Kaye, I can see the influences of those two in your work. I always prefer first person POV, and allowing Zina to reveal this reality of hers allows us an inside view in a way that no other POV could. I love sci-fi/fantasy, and this small piece hooks me. I know I'd read the full novella. Great writing.

I love the "feel" of your blog! The aquatic color of the bg and the intriguing picture of the woman using the airport telephone.

I've got to confess that I almost never read fiction on people's blogs. I love to read, but am particular about what I'll read. I started out to just quickly scan this post, and skipped to the last three paragraphs. Well, then i was interested, so i went back to the top and pretty quickly I had to read it all, slowly. It's delicious, it almost seems a little like Brave New World meets The Time Traveler's Wife.

What a wonderful writer you are, Vesper - technically and creatively. This is so intricately woven and skillfully written.

Your descriptions remind me of Jules Verne style of writing and also very Poe-esque.
"...could see clearly only the nearby buildings and some domed rooftops, glittering like mad mirrors under incidental sunshine."
