I and the other,
my unfathomable double,
forever lock destinies
on this thin silver.
Your eyes are kissing
my shoulders.
Can you look at me
with a painter’s brush
on your eyelashes?
Can you
reveal
more of me
than do
these pure,
cold
laws of optics?

What a delicate, deep poem. The more I read it the more I like it.
What a beautiful, beautiful poem. I like it lots. Matches the picture perfectly.
Simply beautiful. And very meaningful. Plus a beautiful painting that is perfect for your poetry.
I love your poem and the painting. Szelsofa chose just the right word for your poem-delicate.
Very nice!
Szelsofa, thank you so much, and thank you for re-reading this little poem.
Thank you, Akasha, I'm glad you like it.
Ello, thank you very much. Take a look at Pino Daeni's paintings - they're all beautiful.
Christine, thank you for this nice compliment.
After reading your poem and thinking about it, it occurred to me how much we reveal about ourselves in how we react to seeing the person in the mirror. Sometimes I feel a certain disconnect. I should work on that.
I love the flow and sound of the first line/sentence-- especially when read out loud. Perhaps it's the repetition of the "th". It's one of those lines that makes me do a "double take"-- did it rhyme? It seems as though it rhymes. Excellent.
And the message is so true. The neverending search for ourselves.
What very beautiful and evocative words, Vesper. I love the simplicity and the depth of this poem.
And... there's something for you over at my place :-)

Jason, mirrors are strange sometimes. Some believe they reflect part of the soul...

This is lovely, yet softly probing. I love that you ended it on a question. So appropriate.
