Summer's Farewell

I don’t know if one can call Indian summer the few perfect days we’ve just had, for to call it that we should’ve had ground frost first, which we didn’t, but whatever it was, it was glorious. The sweet balmy air and the gentle light, with just the right tinge of melancholy, were heartbreakingly perfect. Nature seemed to have a worry free quietude that could only come from a sentiment of eternity. Yet, inevitably, it’s farewell, until next year…

Great photos. We've had one final wave of warmth too. Now back to Fall.

I like the last photo, in particular, Vesper. That's a moment where you capture the tide turning.

Yes, the past few weeks have been invigorating. It's hard for me to say farewell, too.

Thanks, Paul. I'm always hoping for more...

Sarah, that tree seemed to hold all the seasons on its branches...

Gorgeous pictures. Unfortunately, because we live so far south we seldom see a lot of brilliant colors on the foliage. The trees all change to their own schedule because we don't have those quick frosts.

The crisp cool breeze at sundown, yet warm enough to walk around in shirtsleeves. Add in the full moon, and a clear sky, and that's nice. Great pictures. :)

Well I only hate summer and I am fine with other seasons. My favourite is winter so my time is coming soon.

Wonderful Photos, Vesper. Just a day ago we had a great trip to the mountains with lots of great colors all over the place.

No colours of autumn this year - the leaves dropped off overnight. I feel cheated.

Gorgeous pics whatever we call it, especially the bottom one, which reminds me of...something....

Oh wow, what awesome autumn colours, Vesper. So very beautiful, so tranquil and redolent with memories. And meanwhile here we are warming up for summer.

Charles, thank you and thank you for stopping by. We have a moment of great beauty now but then we have to endure a much too long a winter…

Bernard, you’re surely talking about California… :-)
I’m glad you liked the photos.

Thank you, Chris. I prefer those, too. They are like paintings…

Winter’s coming, Ropi… I wish I could share with you some of our Canadian winter… :-)

Szélsöfa, thank you. Oh, the mountains must’ve been beautiful…

Minx, yes, it happened to some of the trees in my yard, a big wind one evening and then they were bare. Others though still have green leaves.

Yogaforcynics, thank you for your kind words and thank you for visiting.

Vanilla, thank you. I’m so glad you liked the photos. It’s strange to know that winter’s comming here while summer moves to where you live…

Thanks, C.S.! You wish for seasons while I, sometimes, wish for an endless summer...
Such is human nature. :-)

Jason, thank you! Yes, it feels as if the camera has captured not just images... How powerful our brain is, isn't it?
