Lupin Sunset by Eb Mueller
Darling, I’m the breeze tonight
In young petals, mauve and mellow,
I’m the moon reflecting, bright,
On the old pond in the meadow,
As I dare, perchance, to dream
It’s your hair my fingers part
And, for all sweet things agleam,
That the mirror is your heart.
Darling, I’m the breeze tonight
In young petals, mauve and mellow,
I’m the moon reflecting, bright,
On the old pond in the meadow,
As I dare, perchance, to dream
It’s your hair my fingers part
And, for all sweet things agleam,
That the mirror is your heart.

What a beautiful and delicate expression of love. I love the images of reflection.
As I dare, perchance, to dream...
how very sweet this night feels!
Vesper, this is so romantic and dreamy that it makes my thoughts feel like the blooming flowers. Sahweet!
Ditto to both of them.
Its sooooo romantic and sensuous. I could eat those words.. they are delicious. :D
Its a treat for every romantic. And they are plenty of us INFJs around here. :P
Love the imagery. I could almost feel that breeze on the back of my neck.
If you're not careful, you'll be famous some day soon, and justly so at that.
Lovely!!
Reminds of The Lupine Lady (I think maybe I have the title wrong), but it was a story I read to my children about a lady who planted Lupine seeds. I loved that story.
Vesper sorry the image is not reflected off neither pond nor mirror but rather the pate which has barely hair upon it left to part.
Ahhh but to be an old pond surrounded by the scent of young petals is no dream as long as there is verse such as this to read.
Nice flow with timely hesitations and rhyme.
ooooo exquisite ...this mean v has a new honey on the horizon?
Oh beautiful - that is just so lupin-ish - beautiful poem, gorgeous sentiment!

All of the above, and I loved the Shakespearean nod, too!

LW, :-) :-) :-)!
e-fleas... that's scary! :-)
There is not much I can add to all those comments above.. I agree with them.
I just want to add that this seems like it could be spoken by someone who is separated from a lover and is writing to him/her in poem form - or is speaking these words alone, hoping they will span the distance of time or space. It is gracefully told, the images engagingly romantic.
I have a book called A Treasury of Love and Romance. This could be alongside all the greats within its pages.
Thank you so much, Kaye! :-) You've seen it just as I had it in my mind...
L.A., I'm overwhelmed. What an honour! Thank you! :-)
Just indescribably lovely, Vesper. To be the breeze and the moon is to be the full, full moment and its longing.
We all want to find our reflections in another's soul. This reverie is graceful and light, but also deeply moving.
Oh, Sarah, yet you always find the right words to describe... the indescribable. Thank you, my friend. Much appreciated. :-)
