Alive in the Coffin of the Night

I look at the dark
and the dark looks back
with eyes of wide windows
or mirrors,
labyrinthine,
dry.
I run around, not sure
if I see in them
my wanted or my unwanted,
others or myself-
hopeless monkey,
unsoothed by familiar objects,
until I am lost in the night-

and the morning never comes.

This is for Geraldine’s Woven Dreams Prompts.

This is sensational, and yes indeed I liked you, wonderful

I think this prompt alone gave a lot of people insomnia. You know why I like the night? The windows looking at me show me, me. That's when I can get naked and none of the neighbors know what I am doing.

whew....the monkey unsoothed by familiar objects...nice capture in that....its got an eerie feel on some level that can come when your eyes start playing tricks on you in the dark...smiles.

Between the picture and the title I'm afraid to close my eyes! That last line sums up insomnia for sure!

That sounds so familiar. On those nights I will just keep checking my digital clock waiting for morning to arrive and coffee to drink when sometimes sleep never comes. Usually, I find it is because of too much caffeine or my brain that just does not shut down. :)

I know I read this...and I was sure I commented. Maybe Blogger is acting up?

This struck a chord, Vesper, because sleeplessness is just like this. Yes, I know I read this because of the monkey line - which is brilliant. :)

a new path

lost sleep

__Just made me think, Vesper, that morning is beyond the dreams; each day-break is a new chance. _m

Geraldine, thank you, I'm glad you liked this despite the dark depiction... :-)

Thank you, Lorraine, for such words of appreciation, but I'm very sorry for your sleep problems... I can only imagine how bad this struggle can be.

Mark, I like your take on the night.:-) I like the night, too. If sometimes I sleep little is by choice - I feel so much more alert and creative at night...:-)

Brian, thanks! :-) The tricks of the dark... Could be very interesting... :-)

Charles , thank you so much! Glad you liked!:-)

Thank you, Bernard, much appreciated!:-)

Szelsofa, thanks! :-) :-) :-)

Robyn, thank you! Sorry about that... but thank you!

Thank you, Ruby! And thank you for visiting!:-)

Joyce, yes, caffeine can do that to me too. (Still, I love coffee.) When sleep doesn't come, rather than try too hard it's better to get up and do something else for a while and then try again.

TALON, blogger is acting up quite often. Thank you for coming back and for your very kind words.:-)

Magyar, thank you for the haiku! I love "morning bursts in". Each new day could be a new chance, but also the return of something we dread... Maybe it depends on us...

And you thought my story brought shivers! This was definitely eerie.
