Still Far Away

Death is still far away
let us indulge in
the little things
let us cocoon ourselves
in the permanence of tomorrows
as if we still had infinity
ahead of us
(maybe we do)
let us plan
thousands of
little futures
in preparation of
our glorious one
yes, that one,
the one that’s yet to come
the one that will come
Death is (still/maybe/not that) far away...

hopefully it will hold off just a bit longer to let you enjoy those possible futures and see which one of them works its way out...smiles.

Brian, aren't we immortal?... :-) :-) :-)

Such weight in these words. And the knowledge of death walking hand-in-hand with life...well, it's something that's easy to accept at times and much harder at others. I loved this piece, Vesper. It's wonderful to be back reading your stellar work.

I certainly feel age creeping up on me.

Kim, I'm so happy to see you here... and also that you're back at your blog! I've much missed the poetry of your words and photos! Thank you for such great praise. xo

Charles, I don't want to think about it... :-)

I say let each day start naked and then let it end that way. As long as you're taking clothes off or putting them on you know you have life. And whatever happens between the dawn and dusk and dusk and dawn you'll be basically prepared for it.

"let us cocoon ourselves in the permanence of tomorrows". Wonderfully worded :-)

Splendidly written Vesper!

It's like a child walking hand in hand with death. And chattering to him lightly. Maybe that child is doing the right thing.
Great poem.

I guess I'll never stop feeling like a child... :-)
