white birds
flock from heavens
howling savage songs
piercing eyes
—still incredulous—
with their beaks like needles
sewing trees and squirrels
into stillness
black birds
rise from earth
to meet them
in mad whirlwinds
of war and play
heaven and earth are one
the same harsh stars
above and below
only inside
a light

Love this. You write poetry like I'd like to write it.
My favorite... so far, Cora. :)
What an incredible compliment, Charles. I'm honored. Thank you!
Bernard, I'm glad you like it. Thank you so much!
What a vivid image!
Lovely :)
An aerial winter ballet in verse. Delightful. Merry Christmas.
V,
Feed should be fixed now. It was on my to-do list but was somehow always pushed to the bottom. Your poem was a little slice of peacefulness today. Like a mental sigh.
Merry Christmas :)

i like how you pose the first two stanzas...the white and black birds rising in battle...also the harsh stars...it is an interesting description...i like the comparison one person made to ballet because that is what i saw as well...
Beautiful.
SzélsőFa, thank you!
Thank you, Roland. Merry Christmas to you too.
Laura,"a mental sigh"... I like that. Thank you. Merry Christmas to you too.
Brian, I actually saw this scene one very dark, very snowy morning... A violent ballet, indeed. Thank you!
Thank you, Paul.
Beautiful. Ma femme préférée du Québec.
This is gorgeous, Cora. Especially "howling savage songs." It's one of those lines that runs up the spine.
It's a pleasure to read your poetry again. You always tap into a vein of night I fully understand. There's dark magic there.
Have a great Christmas and a very Happy New Year,"Chick with a Pen"! Smiles, Doug!
