Airships & Automatons

About two and a half years ago I was posting here a poem by Emily Dickinson, Hope is the Thing with Feathers. I was saying that I had found it while searching for a title for a story I had just written. It was doubly important to me because it had two things that were in my story: the "thing with feathers" and "hope".

Well, soon after that, editor Charles (Chuck) P. Zaglanis accepted my "(The) Thing with Feathers" for the anthology he was editing for White Cat Publications. The anthology was supposed to come out in Autumn 2013. That didn't happen. I was disappointed and sad, but ultimately didn't lose hope. After all, I had  written the story specifically for this anthology and I had no intention of finding another home for it. Then, at the end of December 2014, Chuck contacted me again with the contracts to sign...

So today I'm very happy to announce that "Airships & Automatons" is back on track, flying high, and it should be available in March. My story is in it!!! And in great company!

Hi Vesper.
Thank you for your visit and your comments. I think I too will always love Discovery Writing (the new term for Pantser). It gets the adrenalin pumping, doesn't it? But I think this time it will be useful to me to know my character arcs because characterisation is so important in my new novel. It's been good for me to try to rein in my enthusiasm for my project a little.

I'm glad your story has founds its intended home. I had that happen once, but the project never came to fruition.

Love Emily Dickenson. Thanks for linking her poem.

Great news! I am so happy for you!

I will be on the lookout for it, too! Did you know that Emily Dickinson was witness to the War of the Worlds?

The War of the Worlds: global dispatches contains it as the last dispatch.

In the spirit of H.G. Wells's classic tale of Martian invasion comes this anthology of some of today's leading authors' own renditions of the Martian invasion as it might have been seen through the eyes of such notables as Jack London, H.P. Lovecraft, Teddy Roosevelt, Emily Dickinson, and Pablo Picasso.

You can pick up a used hardcover from Amazon for only a penny!

Denise, Discovery Writing... I think I like that... :-) There's definitely the need for plotting and I'm in awe of people who can do it easily, but one needs a lot of discipline.

Charles, I'm looking forward to it. I'm very curious.

Thank you, Bernard! :-) I'm glad they kept the cover.

Thank you, Paul! :-)

Congratulations on the publication of your story!!!!

It's so cool that your wrote story that features hope and you never gave up hope on the publication of the story:~) It's a perfect circle.

Perhaps this just goes to show the power of "hope." At least, that's what I'm taking from this post.

Where will the anthology be published?

Sara, thank you so much!
I didn't think of that - a perfect circle - but now that you're saying it, it makes sense... :-)
White Cat Publications has announced it for March 1st, on Amazon and probably elsewhere too.
