Wanderings on Kindle

After five months of paperback-only life, “Wanderings on Darker Shores – a collection of strange tales and poems” is now also available as a Kindle ebook.

Strange how this feels bittersweet…

Setting up the paperback has been such an intense and satisfying job! I’ve found a lot of good advice on the Internet and I will probably share it here in a nutshell in a future post. From working on the cover with talented artist Steve Santiago and trying to follow editor Mark Durfee’s wonderful advice, to choosing fonts, and flourishes, and page set-up, and struggling with my own perfectionism, this has been an amazing journey.

Compared to it, setting the book up for Kindle —although still involving a bit of research— has proven almost anticlimactic, if I may say so.

The “real” book —and yes, I know I’m blowing my own horn— is so nice to hold in your hands that it’s certainly a pity that all of that is lost on Kindle. But that’s the way of the world now and we have to go with it…

So here they are, both of them, under the same cover…

Thanks for the lovely comment and I am excited to order your book and know I shall love it ..
As I read your profile on Amazon I did a WOW on your having a Master's degree in Aerospace Engineering .. Bravo on that!
And I like the name of your cat

Good Night ...movie time with my husband here , every Friday we watch something new on our new large screen TV ... at first I thought it was much too big (60 inches) but now I love it as it's better much better than going out to the movies ...
Life is good!

I wish you much success with your book ...

Yes, setting something up for ebook does seem rather anticlimactic, but it's nice when the sales come in.

Kindle is where an author can really reach the majority of readers.

__I don't do Kindle... I too like the "Paper-Print" sort, I do agree, though, that "E" books can reach more readers than the "old prints." (I... am an "old print.")
__My wife uses her Kindle daily, and I'll ask Kathy to pull up your good work.
__Fine job! _m

Margie, thank you so much for your very kind words... :-) Friday movie night seems wonderful for so many reasons. :-)

So you felt it too, Charles?... :-)

Surely looks like that, Bernard... :-)

Doug, Kindle is very useful for going on vacation because you can carry so many books with you, but I still prefer my "real" books... That's why I "resisted" so long before putting "Wanderings..." out for Kindle too. The printed copy is so much nicer... :-) Thanks for your kind words! :-)

I just downloaded a kindle app on my ipad as I had done my e-reading (I average about 2 ebooks a year) on a nook. I will order yours for my ipad--but I do like the feel of regular books (but ebooks are nice where there are no other books available).

Sage, yes, I prefer "real" books too... :-) You're very kind, but you don't have to buy my book... :-) I've never used a Nook, but I assume it's similar to Kindle, being made for reading, while the android tablets and the ipad, etc are much harsher on the eyes...

I just ordered your book, Cora and so look forward to receiving it!

Margie, I'm so happy that you bought my book! Thank you! But now I'm all jittery... wondering if you'll like it... :-)

Hi Vesper, I am just trying to catch up some on your blog. Congrats to you on the publishing of your new book. I have a Kindle and although am reading a book on it now that I just bought I am going to check out yours soon too. I clicked on your link and have been on Amazon.com just now and saw it. It looks great. I wish you all the success in it. I will try to get to some of your other posts. Since I have mine with Word Press I tend to forget to get over here to blogger to read some of the others more regularly, so trying to catch up.
