you see
there are these things that we see
or things that we think we see
things that we’ve been taught
to see
every day things
every life things
meant to be
mundane
comforting in their mundaneness
and then
there are the things that we don’t see
things that hide in the cracks
of this thing
that we call reality
the real things
harsh things
not meant to be reached
alien
crushing in their alienness
that only in dreams
perhaps
we can glimpse

Beautiful, evocative poem. :-) We see what we look for and do not see what we are afraid is there in the shadows.
eventually the cracks open up and the unseen is known, God help the evil person.
I wish I liked the other better than the mundane. but perhaps I'm a coward at heart.
Roland, thanks! That's true, we see what we look for, either way. :-)
Mark, I dread that moment, if it will ever come...
Charles, me too. Even though I sometimes think I might like better the "other" I'm not quite sure...

Mysterious. :-) Thanks.
Greetings from London.
Maybe this explains some of my dreams! I like the structure of your poem, there is much to ponder.
Hi there Vesper,
I hear you, and sometimes it makes me wonder how much more can one be alienated when they are alone in their ability to see further.
But time and again one comes accross blogs like yours and gets assured that you are one of those who may watch the mundane yet percieve the ’alien’, or the supernatural within (or over).
So I kind of disagree with the poem.
And keep up watchin’!
Love,
SzF
