what
a thorough disappointment
this
absence of magic
this
mundaneness
Even if they existed
the vampires, the angels
what makes you think
you’d be their darling
and not their victim?
even
so... even so...
you
know what I mean
I’m
talking about real magic
not
the stupefying wonder of a
hydromedusa
or
the heartbreaking beauty
of
Für Elise
how
about some faeries, some werewolves
some
wish-fulfilling genies
even
the ones who trick you
if
you’re no expert
at
formulating wishes
why
are we condemned to dullness
in
this miraculous universe?
Isn’t the Universe magical
enough for you?
Every single amoeba, every
single star?
yes...
yes... but...
if
there exist such magical things
as
cells splitting
into
new cells
and
helium burning up there
in
the sky
why
not also portals to other dimensions?
why
not time travel?
yes,
why not time travel?
why
not...

I be very content in a land of werewolves and faeries, a dragon or two and the mystic magic over the physics magic. Find the portal Vesper and take me with you.
Sometimes life wears us down, dulls our vision. The magic is still there, waiting for fresh, empathic eyes to see it I think.
May the magic be waiting for you around the next corner. :-)
I leave you with the dedication to my newest book:
TO CAMELOT, TO XANADU …
TO THE HOPE THAT ALL OUR DREAM WORLDS WILL COME TRUE …
KNOWING THAT FAERIE LANDS HOLD THEIR DANGERS, TOO.
AS YOU READ, I WILL BE ON THE ROADS TO THEM.
READ AND BRING THEM HOME TO YOU.
I will, Mark. Promise... ;-)
Thanks, Roland. And that's a fantastic dedication!
If such things were, then we wouldn't have all the literature that we've needed to create them.
Makes sense, Charles. :-) But I wouldn't mind living in those worlds every now and then, physically living I mean not just in my imagination.
"why are we condemned to dullness
in this miraculous universe?"
Dullness and . . . indifference. That I'll never grok.
I can almost understand why so many people want to go off to war, or live on planet Mars.
Erik, yes, most people take everything for granted. It breaks my heart. This planet with all that's on it is a miracle, but we couldn't care less...
So good to see you again, I've missed your posts, Cora, and happy blog-o-birthday!

Thank you so much, Doug! I miss being here and around the blogosphere... I love your senryu... as always your poetry conjures magical images.
Vesper, just caught this in 'The Irish Times:' '. . .her sense of being alone even among others: “If I could catch the feeling, I would: the feeling of the singing of the real world.”' http://www.irishtimes.com/culture/art-and-design/culture-shock-listen-to-wordsworth-and-don-t-gentrify-emotions-1.2646942
Why not use this opening as a spearhead into a novel? :)
Erik, oh, I love that! Thank you for the link! Such an interesting and beautiful article. I'm bookmarking it.
Bernard, yes, I like the idea! :-)
