It’s the Canadian Thanksgiving holiday today. And despite the tumult of my wishes and regrets, in spite of the anxiety of unfulfilled dreams, regardless of the thousand little things that haunt me, disturb me, annoy, or otherwise exasperate me every day, I think I have a lot more meaningful reasons to be thankful. So here is my little precious list of blessings:
- my family and, especially, my two beautiful daughters;
- my good health;
- living in a place and in a time without violence, without life destroying conflicts;
- an imagination that rarely allows for a dull moment;
- the discovery of so many blogging soul mates;
- books, movies, music;
- my crazy optimism;
- just being alive….
mmmm, and the anticipation of a luscious dinner…

Canadian Thanksgiving? I haven't heard about it but at least it had sense to wake up. I have a Canadian teacher but he didn't mention it today.
Happy thanksgiving! I hope you're enjoying the day.
That is one seriously good-looking bird! Can't wait for American Thanksgiving.
wonderful grateful list.
But now I am oh so hungry.
Love Thanksgiving.
Being thankful with every forkfull.
Do tell, what are you going to do with all those limes?
Or aren't they limes, and if not what are they, and what are you going to do with them whatever they are?
Oh, that looks so good. I'd pay money to turn off my imagination sometimes. If that needs explanation, check out 'thin cry' on my blog. Then again, that might not help. lol
Great list! Turkey looks yummy!
Ropinator, yes there is one. Read about it here.
Thank you, Jason, indeed, a nice, quiet kind of day...
Hoodie, only a month and a half to go... :-)
Taffiny, those are not limes, those are pickled green tomatoes, home-made, and I eat them, and they are great with... turkey, for example... :-)
Mad Munkey, how right you are. Sometimes I can "feel" my brain, if you know what I mean. :-)
I'll check out your 'thin cry'...
Thank you, Jon! Yummy, indeed!
"lucious dinner"
Because of travelling we celebrated it Sunday, and I ate and ate and ate - many of components of the feast came from one of the Montreal markets, btw!
Vesper, I hope you have a wonderful, happy and blessed Thanksgiving - may it be a day filled with light, love and good cheer!
I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving with family and friends. It is what makes Thanksgiving such a wonderful holiday! The turkey looks beautiful! Don't tell me you made it? I am hungry looking at it! I am a total lame-o but I actually buy my turkey premade from my local grocery store. It still tastes pretty good and I make a homemade dessert to make up for it!
i like the last one best - thankful for being alive. often, we forget that being alive is a huge blessing. thanks for making me appreciate what i have through your post here.
and go check out a nice award for you. :)
I know what you mean, Bernita, though lately I have a tendency to limit the 'eat, eat, and eat' on such occasions. :-)
Thank you so much, Vanilla! And I return all the good wishes to you!
Thank you, Ello, yes it was a great day, very pleasant. Turkey's home-cooked. So you feel 'guilty' and make the desert...:-) You know, most of what we eat is home-made, but I sometimes wonder if it's worth the time spent in the kitchen (even though I like cooking) vs. time spent doing more meaningful things... :-)
CS, you're right, being alive means there is still hope.
Wow, an award! Thank you so much!
That is some feast, V.
Happy Day,
John
wow, you have my old blog name! ...vesper
Thank you, John!
Kristen, a nice coincidence! For a second I was afraid it was my blog's name... :-)
Happy Thanksgiving to you!
Ahhh...that photo leaves me hankering for American Thanksgiving!
And a question: What are the jars of green orbs behind the turkey?
Real live lesbian, thank you!
They are pickled green tomatoes. Very good!
