All The Lovely Snowflakes

Look at all these snowflakes
Out of the blue
Out of nowhere
These fluffy pancakes
Slapping our cheeks
These spoonfuls of vanilla ice cream
Catapulted by mischievous angels
Into our once perfect hair
We’re under attack
By this snow squall
The car is just there
No, I will not wait for you to bring it over
Let us run for it
Cold, cold the kiss of snow
On my décolletage, on my bare back
This little black dress is too little
Hot, hot your hand over mine
Your black dinner jacket
Has white epaulets
When you drape it, oh, so chivalrously,
Over my wet shoulders
What about this puddle?
It’s like an ocean
With melting icebergs in it
My stilettos will not float
Are you gonna carry me over it?
Ah, yes you are
And I’m using this moment
When you’re such a gentleman
When you’re defenceless
To kiss your ear wildly
To eat this heavy candyfloss
From your face
My eyes closed
While we’re laughing, laughing
(I hope you won’t drop me in the puddle)
Under all these lovely snowflakes

The first part makes me think of the snow ice cream my dad used to make. That's a nice memory.

the voice mimics the motion of the snowflakes. how sweet.
i wish i had a memory like this - but i don't.
now i got a glimpse.

(but those shoes on the photo are not for me :-)

Once again vesper you have conveyed the enormity of the affection present, the necessity of the give and take, the playfulness of the moment needed to make love grow, even in those shoes. {;-o}

Vesper! What an absolutely perfect capture of a few wonderful moments. I just LOVE LOVE LOVE this!

Hi Vesper, it's Secretia.
Shay sent me, and I'm glad she did, your poem is nice!

So beautiful and romantic!

Steve E said...

Yep, I'm another one "sent by Shay".

...and I really enjoy reading your work. Words put together in a unique, easily understood piece. I like easy. I like simple.

Thank you for being here, and relieving me from a potentially "Shay-less" day

sent here by FB, came for the shoe, staying for the words :)

That is a positive way to be inspired by a snow storm. :)

Your poem really comes to life - I can see the couple dashing through the snow and I can feel the flakes and the cold. Beautiful.

I came to your site from Word Garden and I am so glad I did.

I loved this poem. It has such a happy "spur of the moment" feeling to it. It almost makes me want to go dance in snow.

I love your use of hot and cold:~)

Is there such a thing as a little black dress that's too little?

Beautiful poem.

I love the playfulness and affection conveyed here. The snowflakes make a good contrast to your hot little black dress and stilettos. Great depiction of the relationship and the mood of the night!

Why doesn't the word epaulette ever come to me when I want to use it ... epaulette, I'm going to say it myself five times so I remember it.

Such a beautiful poem.
