A Walk on the High Line

After accessing the park from the elevator at 16th Street, behind Chelsea Market, we looked south to get a glimpse of the Statue of Liberty (here with quite a bit of zooming) before heading north. (Note: Start at Gansevoort Street, to see everything...)

Amazing how peaceful it feels to walk the only path of this long park, so close, yet so miraculously isolated from the mad bustle of the city.

Spring was late by one month in New York, but any bit of greenery and any tiny flower  look amazing after enduring this year’s winter.

Along the way, you might encounter…

an intriguing window…

some sweet denizens of the park…

interesting buildings…

street art…

the art of nature…

and some more art…

The end at 30th Street... but an extension of the park is under construction.

I remember my first visit to New York -- so long ago now. I was only 13. I was with my Mom and my oldest sister and I remember getting a neck ache from trying to take in everything all at once...and looking waaaay up at the tops of those skyscrapers (so aptly named) and being mesmerized by the hustle and bustle. I like that you got to see it from a whole different perspective.

Talon, I think that no matter how many times I go to New York, I will still feel this awe at everything that it is and it means.

SzélsőFa, yes, there were many interesting things , little details everywhere... Unfortunately, some I only photographed with my mind's eye....

When I was in New York with Lana, we went to several little parks like this. I really enjoyed and was surprised at how isolated one felt in the middle of the city.

Cool photos.

I love the anti-fracking sign in the window. I worry that fracking is going to bite us on the butt sometime in the future, in the way of increased earthquakes.

The Statue of Liberty photo is my favorite. All great shots though.

Charles, yes, I noticed that in all the parks, no matter how small. A nice feeling...

Geraldine, thanks! Yes, very sad... I will never understand how some people can do such unimaginable things.

Paul, yes, I like that sign too. and I'm afraid that in the end we will destroy Earth. I hope Earth itself finds a way...

Bernard, thanks! You could barely see it with the naked eye but we knew to look for it there.
