Autumn Blues

Bitter Lillet
and the trumpet
of Miles Davis,
sketching flamencos
in the cool of the night.

The staircase
to the height
of my ivory tower
has dissolved
into
wisps of darkness.

Stealthy October
prepares its arrival,
chilling my heart
in soft
flutter of owls
and
crackle of leaves,
under
unseen
steps
of strangers.

I slowly merge
in your stern photograph,
the portrait of a ghost
under the ghostly Moon.

Cor, we're all getting a bit dark and mysterious! Must be the time of year. The pic and the words go so well together.

Wow. Beautiful poem. I love the unique elements and the captured sounds.

This is wonderful and has captured that quality of of fall that is hard to explain, a presence stealing summer.

Jason, thank you, it came to me, in fragments of sounds, tastes, images...

Colleen, thank you. Oh, how nicely you say it "a presence stealing summer."
