Absolutely gorgeous captures of the Lily of the Valley (which is my all time most favorite spring bloom). They do like staunch green soldiers protecting their inner princess. This was so lovely!
it is the second little verse that really got me...and maybe because of the verse i am wrestling with tonight...the little flowers are worth fighting for surely...love that
What lovely, delicate words and beautiful photos Vesper, this is a delight!
Lily of the Valley is one of my fav flowers, right up there with lilacs, which btw are just coming into bloom here in BC. The fragrance of both of these is also perfection, never replicated in a bottle. ;<)
i like the first verse for these little, but strong pieces of floral fabric are true warriors against the last lashes of winter. at years their flowering concides with the last frost of spring. here in our garden they are dying back, 'done their duty.
Everybody, thank you so much for your comments and compliments! I’m very sorry for replying this late!
TALON, thank you! When I first wrote this they were looking like spears and then when I got to take the picture, maybe a day or two later, the leaves had already opened.:-)
Brian, thank you! Yes, such delicate, elegant flowers…
Geraldine, thank you! Yes, these and the lilac… their fragrance is out of this world… :-)
Magyar, thank you! And thank you for the lovely, fresh haiku. :-)
Lorraine, thank you! I don’t think there is… :-)
Elisha Gay Hidalgo, thank you and thank you for visiting! Much appreciated!
Fireblossom, I know… they behave a bit like weeds, don’t they? Unfortunately, after a few years they don’t even bloom anymore.
Thank you, Charles! Glad you liked! :-)
Paul, thank you! :-) Glad you liked!
iamlostinthot, thank you! :-)

Brian and Geraldine, thank you both for thinking of me. I'm thinking of you! :-)
Brian, not a bad week, but very busy... I'm so much looking forward to the weekend... Smiles right back at you, my friend... :-) Enjoy your weekend!
Geraldine, all's well, just that I'm so busy and so tired that I don't even have a proper thought, let alone an idea for a little poem or something... not even a good comment, although I'm reading all the blogs... Hugs to you too, my friend! Have a nice weekend! xoxoxo
Thought I had left a comment here before but don't see it! I like the angle you have of the lilies and the captured princess between the leaves. Hoping to get out with my camera soon now that it's warming up.

I don't think I've ever seen Lily of the Valley before. SO beautiful. Love the second verse.

beautiful to look at/smell, toxic if abused :D
Love this, very pretty and thoughtful.
Optimistic Existentialist, thank you! Yes, they are beautiful! To say nothing about their perfume... :-)
Robyn, thank you! There's always something to capture on the camera in the garden...
LW, yes, I didn't know. I looked them up before I posted this and found they were toxic. A defense mechanism, I suppose. :-)
Julia, thank you! Much appreciated! :-)
